Skills, experience position you to perform well in business — Nnadi

For Dr. Fon Nnadi, Managing Director,  Scodex Health Services Limited, herbs provided by God for human consumption and cure is still the best way for healthy living. Genesis 1:29, Änd God said, behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth and every tree, in which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; …to you it shall be for meat.”
satmosHowever, his 33 years of experience in the business of herbal practice has positioned him to administer effectively and efficiently on patience using natural herbs with tremendous results and with little financial returns, but what matters most is human lives”, he said.

In this interview with Saturday Vanguard Business, he speaks on his knowledge of the healing power of herbs even as he advised some orthodox doctors to refrain from condemning herbal remedies. Excerpts:

Tell us the mission and vision of Soredix Health Foundation…

Our mission is to introduce quality curative herbal remedies and the vision is to see it gets to everyone everywhere to help provide good health.

Since you ventured into herbal remedies through training, what has been your achievements and target?

For the achievement, there will be no greater achievements than securing health, helping to provide good health and saving lives. That is the aspiring landmark for Soredex. A lot of people testify to the good result of the products we supply out there. That I count as a big achievement. Asking about those that need it, everybody needs our product in one or the other. If you don’t need it for malaria, you will need it for Thyfoid, BP, diabetes, strokes etc. Otherwise, you need the product to maintain your health. So we try to ensure that it’s not limited to the rich alone but it gets to everybody unlike the foreign networks we see today where only the rich can afford them.

With your knowledge in herbal remedies, is your products approved by NAFDAC?

Yes! Majority of products are NAFDAC approved. And so many have testified the efficacy of our products and that is our adverts. The elderly man you see walking out of this place has her daughter working here. If these products are not working and she is not convinced, she would not have directed her father here for treatment.

We work on recommendation, testimonies. You come for treatment, you get your result, you would be able to tell other people. Even though it’s a very slow method for business but at the same time, we love it because when you are coming, you are coming with assurance in the sense that somebody who had used our products and testified led you to the place or introduce you to the place.

Just like the Hausa man will always ask you when you tell him that a product is good, he will ask you if you have used it, if you say yes, he will follow you to get the product.

When and how long have you been in herbal practice?

I have been in this business for 33 years now. But I started producing in a packaged form in 2004. Before then I have been in the treatment section of it since 1982 as a profession combining it with my secondary education at 17.

How did you acquire this?

I learnt it from my grand parents. My grant father did it and he was known in my community and beyond. My grant mother was a traditional birth attendant and she was well known all over the places. I took over from them after undergoing some training with them even though they saw the sign in me naturally and drew me closer to train me in it. After my secondary school, I went further to study it. Right now my first son is 17 and he has already started.

Does it mean that this trade is hereditary in your family?

Yes! That is what I’m seeing.

Some orthodox practitioners always have issues with herbal remedies on dosage, what is your takes?

Honestly they are not being frank. They are only judging from the business angle of it. Like Bob Marley said, “Tell the children the truth because one day they will count on you, not too long from when you said it.” What I mean is this, if they keep dribbling, playing this hide and seek because they want to protect their business, for how long will that be done?

As you are saying it people are getting wiser everyday. As you are telling us to shy away from herbs, that it’s poisonous but the people you are talking to are not daft.

They are getting to know that you told them that if you drink bitter leaf it will damage their liver and they happened to come across an old man of 85 years who told them that he has never visited any hospital in his life and they asked about bitter leaf and he told them he has been drinking bitter leaf since his childhood.

So, when you hear that then you weigh the two statements and know who is telling the truth. One said, bitter leaf damages the liver and the old man told you he has been taking it for the past 75 years and his liver is in tact. They should learn to embrace the truth.

The truth is that God gave perfection to what He created and threw it out to man to use. So if you have the knowledge and know how to apply these things, apply them for good of humanity.

Nobody should sit there and begin to condemn what God has given humanity because he is not in that section of practice, so that people will run away from you. No! How many would you scare away from the truth and for how long would you do that?

They should advise people who want to use herbal medicine to approach doctors who have a good knowledge of it that can blend it well so that you don’t cause yourself a harm. The abuse that is in herbal medicine is also attained in Orthodox medicine because if I give you Paracetamol to drink and you refused to follow the instruction because your headache is severe.

Instead of taking two, you take three or four at a time and instead of waiting for three or four hours you take again after one hour because you want the headache to go fast. You are taking over dose and if there is anything that would cause side effect in that Paracetamol it must surely affect you. It is the same thing with herbal medicine.
