Extra Joss Season 3 Finals Holds Today


The final of Season 3, Extra Joss football competition will come up today at the Campos Mini-Stadium, Ajele, Lagos Island after it was earlier scheduled for Sunday, but has to be moved a day earlier for logistic reason.
The round of 16 of the tournament kicked off on Monday at the Campos Stadium with champions of each divisional football associations converged on the sports complex for fight for star prize of one million naira.
The tournament organised by the Lagos State Ministry of Youth, Sports and Social Development and sponsored by Kalbe International has added values to the growth of grassroots football
Tournament Coordinator, Uthman Ola Okunnu, is optmistic that the future of grassroots football in Lagos State is bright due to beautiful display of soccer artistry in the tournament which has gone through all the Divisional Football Associations, Epe, IKorodu, Badagry,Ikeja and Lagos DFAS.

Okunnu assured that the organisers would create a data base whereby, the players discovered in the Inter- local government football competition would be monitored, just as he said the tournament is an eye opener that the country is blessed with abundant football players who need to exposed to the technical depth of football.
Meanwhile, the first vice President of Nigeria Football Federation, Seyi Akinwunmi, has said the new board of NFF will ensure that football scouts are deployed to grassroots match venues such as Extra Joss football competition in order to build a virile football structure in Nigeria.

Akinwunmi said the NFF through its representatives will ensure that such tournament are properly organised and also spread it across the country.
"Any developmental football, any grassroots tournament, we are going to ensure that it's organized properly and ensure its staged across the country," he said.
"We have a technical committee, study groups and scouts and we going to ensure that at this kind of tournament are monitored by NFF to scout for talents," Akinwunmi emphasized.
