OANDO to train 1000 auto technicians

In a bid to give back to its operating environments, Oando PLC has launched a capacity building programme for auto mechanics in Lagos.

The programme, which is in partnership with Automedics, a complete auto maintenance company, would see 1000 auto mechanics acquire modern technology -based skills on vehicle maintenance and repairs.

According to the company’s Head of Sales, Mr Femi Olabiyi,  the different advancements in the auto world had made  training and re-training of the nation’s auto mechanics  imperative.

“Today, there are many types of vehicle in the country; some are high mileage fairly used vehicles, and there are also brand new vehicles.  These vehicles have new advancement in the technology of their built such as computer diagnostics.

“So the aim of the programme is to train these mechanics on the acquisition of modern technology based skills for maintenance and repairs of vehicles,” he said.

He added that besides building technical skills in these people, they would also be equipped with managerial skills so as to enhance their finance management and inter-personal skills.

According to him, Automedics will be handling the technical aspects of the training, designed to make the mechanics world class, adding that the training will be taken to other regions of the country.
