Sambisa Assault Preview – frag Boko Haram terrorists in the new Android game from ChopUp

In a 40 second YouTube preview, ChopUp is giving us a sneak peak at Sambisa Assault, a whack-a-mole style casual game.

From the trailer, the point of the game is obvious. You have to frag the terrorists when they pop up from behind their cover. The game gets harder the more you play — more and quicker terrorists to frag. But it’s intended to be simple enough time killer that you can play it every time you have a few minutes to spare.

The title’s inspiration comes from the Chibok Girls kidnap saga in which Boko Haram terrorists abducted almost 300 girls and reportedly took them into the Sambisa forest. Some have managed to escape, but most of the girls remain in captivity and mortal peril.

While the over 200-day campaign to #bringbackourgirls has not abated, perhaps a casual game like Sambisa Assault can help remind the world that while the larger war against terrorism grows hot, it must not forget the battle of Chibok and Sambisa.

Sambisa Assault is the latest work from the stables of ChopUp, the gaming division of Pledge51, a mobile development company. Previous titles in their portfolio are Danfo Reloaded and Table Soccer.

This is just a taster of what we can do, given the right resources”, says Zubair Abubakar, co-founder of Pledge51. The startup recently raised a seed round from angel investors.

Sambisa Assault is scheduled to arrive on the Android platform next week. There are also plans to launch an iOS version.
