Teacher gets life sentence for raping 11-year-old pupil

A 35-year-old teacher, Bright Asiruwa, has been handed down a life imprisonment sentence by the High Court sitting in Benin City for defiling an 11-year-old pupil.

Asiruwa had molested the primary school pupil in 2007, while he was a teacher at at Osazuwa Primary School in Ehor, Uhunmwode LGA of Edo state.
The rape case against the accused teacher started at an Abudu High Court in 2008 and later moved to the Benin City High court.

The presiding judge at the Benin High court, Justice G. O. Imadegbelo, ruled that the accused was guilty of rape and subsequently sentenced him to life imprisonment, after examining all evidence brought against him
