NFF boss promises to redefine Nigerian football


The newly elected President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amaju Melvin Pinnick , has said that his election as the President of the Nigeria apex football ruling body was divinely scripted as he never wanted to contest.

He said that his desire was to end up as the chairman of the NFF Electoral Committee unknown to him that providence had a plan for him to be President of NFF.
Pinnick made the observation while speaking at his thanksgiving service to appreciating God for his victory at the just concluded NFF Elective Congress held in Warri, Delta State recently. The thanksgiving was held at the First Baptist Church, warri.

He stated that he only came into the picture when the former President of NFF, Aminu Maigeri opted out for re-election and told him that as one of his supported, his name (Amaju) was among the persons he listed to succeed him.

The visibly joyous Pinnick, said that his life has been of testimonies, noting that his childhood dream was to become the NFF President as he could not play professional football.

While saying that there was no victor no vanquish at the election that saw him become president, Mr. Pinnick assured that he will redefine Nigeria football through what he described as “sustainable football” as is done in football advanced countries.

He expressed profound gratitude to President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan for the rare privilege given to him for a visit at Aso Rock, noting that he was humbled when the President called him “my President.”

He also expressed thanks to the Vice President, Arc. Namadi Sambo whom he said became his personal friend after Delta State won the National Sports Festival tagged Kada 2009 when he was the Governor of Kaduna State.

He expressed thanks to all those who made it possible for him to emerge as the new President of NFF and those who have contributed to his career, including Elder statesman, Dr. E.K. Clark, Governor Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan and his amiable wife, Chief Solomon Ogba, Dere Otubu, Dr. Singabele of Bayelsa State, Hon. Nicholas Mutu, the Senate President, Senator David Mark, amongst others.
