Mobile Money agents laud Glo Xchange

Prospective agents of the newly launched Glo Xchange have praised Globacom, Nigeria’s leading telco for the mobile money super agent initiative which has the prospect of deepening financial inclusion and promoting Nigeria’s electronic payment system.

The agents lauded Globacom during town hall meetings held for the prospective agents and those who wish to know more about the super network and mobile money.

The town hall meetings were held in major cities like Ibadan, Benin, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Ikeja and in Lekki, Lagos.

Speaking after a very vibrant meeting at Lekki, a prospective agent, an exporter and financial services provider, Mr. Osita Udoye said after listening to the lecture he believes Glo Xchange was good and profitable for agents.

At the Ikeja venue of the event, Mr. Raphael Arokoyo of Real Imagination spoke in the same vein. “This is a good means of economic empowerment for Nigerians,” he said, noting that, he was sanguine that the mobile payment option would catch on. “There is no business without a rough beginning. When ATM started, it was difficult to accept. But today, it is taking shape. So, I believe that the mobile wallet will be a good venture,” he said.

Another prospective agent Mrs. Eucharia Ajaegbu a provision store operator in Ojo-Alaba, Lagos said Glo Xchange was a welcome development that “will make business transactions very easy, and improve the earnings of small business people. I like it, and I hope it goes well” she enthused.

Those who listened to Glo’s presentation at the town hall meetings were excited to know that it is easy to operate a mobile wallet because it does not require high education as long as the user can operate a phone.

Also the operation of the Glo Xchange business is not expensive as long as the operator has a shop already in use for business. “It does not require start-up capital. With Glo’s support to brand our shops, it is easy to run, and less stressful. I believe it will thrive,” Mrs. Mercy Nnamani, teacher and provision shop owner in Ojo-Alaba said.

After the meeting, most of those who attended filled the form to sign on as mobile money agents. According to the Head of Mobile Money Financial Business Department in Globacom, Mr. Esaie Diei, the mobile money agents will double as Glo virtual airtime recharge vendors.

Glo Xchange is the easy and convenient platform, in partnership with Mobile Money Operators, that will enable Nigerians to use their mobile phones to send or receive money and pay for airtime, goods and services, including utility such as electricity, water bills and pay TV subscription in different parts of the country.
