Germany to build GreenAgric centre in Ogun state


The German Government has promised to establish a green agricultural center in Ogun state state just as harvesting at the state’s  250 hectres Rice farm in Eggua Yewa North Local Government commenced.

German Minister of Economic Cooperation, Mr. Gerd Muller, disclosed this in Berlin, Germany  at the end of a meeting between representatives of his government and a visiting team from Ogun State, headed by Governor Ibikunle Amosun recently.
The minister explained that the center, to be cited within a tertiary institution, would serve as an innovation center where his government and the Ogun state government intends to intensify its ties and cooperation, commending Amosun’s administration for its urban renewal initiative.

He highlighted other areas of possible cooperation between Germany and Ogun State as human capacity development, wealth creation and promotion of vocational education.
Gerd Muller acknowledged the conducive economic environment in Ogun State and expressed his countries readiness to intensify the economic ties between it and the state government.

Muller, who had earlier visited Ogun state in June, said the trip changed his perception about Nigeria, expressing confidence that great potentials that can be tapped abound in the state.
Meanwhile, the  State government has commenced   rice harvesting at its 250 hectres Rice farm in Eggua Yewa North Local Government.

Speaking at the harvesting of the 50 hectres that are ready, the state commissioner for Agriculture, Mrs. Ronke Sokefun said the project has shown the commitment of the Senator Ibikunle Amosun administration at increasing food production in the state.

Mrs. Sokefun said the Nerica  8 rice will be processed according to international standard and will be available for local consumption.

Speaking at the harvesting of the rice in Eggua, the Eleggua of Eleggualand, Oba Michael Dosunmu thanked the state government for citing the project in his domain
