Bayelsa gets own security outfit to monitor pipeline vandalism


A commercial security outfit, the Izon-Ibe Security Company Limited has been incorporated by the Bayelsa State Government.
The new company, which has former President of the Pan Ijaw socio-political organisation, the Ijaw National Congress, INC, Chief Joshua Fumudoh as Chairman, is expected to provide commercial security services as well as report all security related matters on a daily basis in communities across the state.

To be run as a well structured and disciplined outfit, the company will generate about 20, 000 jobs for youths, who are expected to be deployed to various communities to carry out surveillance duties as well as monitor the critical infrastructure and assets of the government, multinationals and other viable business concerns.

A Government House statement explains that, the company’s staff will also check cases of oil theft, pipeline vandalism and other related crimes associated with the general area.

According to the statement, the operations of the new company, which is seen as a novel idea, will be useful and be beneficial to both federal and state agencies, the multinational oil companies and other stakeholders.

Other members of the board of the Izon-Ibe Security Company Limited are; Retired Rear Admiral Geoffrey Yanga, Retired Lt. Col. Bernard Kenebai, Retired Major Lancelot Anyanya and Comrade Eradiri Udengs, while Jephthah James is to serve as its Managing Director.
