Thirteen goals in two games shows our reaction - Ancelotti

Carlo Ancelotti says 13 goals in two games shows his Real Madrid side have well and truly responded to their defeat to Atletico Madrid last week.

The Champions League winners were stunned by their city rivals at the Santiago Bernabeu last weekend but put five goals past Basel in Europe in midweek and followed that up with an devastating display on Saturday.

Cristiano Ronaldo struck a hat-trick, while Gareth Bale and Javier Hernandez also struck twice apiece, with James Rodriguez's stunning effort rounding off the list of goalscorers on a quite incredible afternoon at the Riazor.

"We have a phenomenon of great players who combined well today," Ancelotti purred after the game. "That's the beauty of the game.

"The way we think is that we fix the problems, not the points. The season is very long. Thirteen goals in two games shows that we have reacted well, but we must keep on improving."

The Italian was also full of praise for the depth of quality at his disposal, with Hernandez making his marking with two goals late on.

"We have given the team more intensity and fresh players helped us at the end. [Asier] Illarramendi gave balance, Chicharito, depth, and Isco quality."
