…Inaugurates 2014 eNigeria LOC
In a related development, the agency also announced the formal inauguration of the 2014 Local Organisating Committee LOC for the e-Nigeria Conference.
e-Nigeria is the nation’s premier annual gathering of ICT stakeholders, professionals and enthusiasts from both public and private sectors across the globe. It is aimed at showcasing and promoting Nigeria’s viable but largely under tapped IT sector potentials.
The theme of this year’s event is: “Creating Market Opportunities for Indigenous ICT Products and Services”. The theme, according to the agency, was particularly chosen to promote Made in Nigeria ICT Products and Services, just like whenit launched the Framework and Guildlines for Nigerian Content in Information Technology during eNigeria 2013.
As part of objective of the eNigeria conference 2014, the LOC is to ensure among others that it identify tech start-ups as well as ICT related research and innovations and showcase them like in other international exhibitions.
The conference is also intended to explore strategies for providing critical mass of employment through ideas, innovations and investment opportunities while creating policies targeted at improving the qualities of indigenous ICT products and services for global competitiveness.
The membership of the LOC was drawn from various ICT bodies including the Nigeria Computer Society, Computer Professionals of Nigeria, Information Technology Association of Nigeria, Institute of Software Practitioners of Nigeria, the media, other interest groups and representatives of other Ministries, Agencies and Departments.
