The new president of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), has unfolded his priority areas to move the sector forward over the next four years.
Dr Frank Jacobs who took over from the immediate past president, Chief Kola Jamodu, said, plans are being made to collaborate with tertiary institutions to bridge the gap between the manufacturers and academia to improve the skill requirements of industries, adding that, there is great need to train Nigerian youths on appropriate technical skills that will meet the requirements of the industrial sector.
He disclosed that plans are being made to establish a centre for entrepreneurial studies which will train and develop entrepreneurs, add value to the society and reduce the yearning for paid employment.
“MAN would establish close collaboration with the media to ensure cross fertilization of ideas and information as well as timely dissemination of MAN programmes and activities for the interest of the stakeholders and the national economy. We plan to overhaul and update the MAN Resource Centre which is the Business Development Unit of MAN to reposition it adequately towards assisting Small Scale Entrepreneurs in developing or improving their business plans. This unit will also undertake clinical evaluation of ailing companies and proffer advice on how to improve their operations” he stated.
