Cameroon army kills about 10 Boko Haram fighters

The Cameroonian army has killed at least ten Boko Haram assailants who were attempting an attack into the Cameroon town of Amchidée located in the far north at the Nigerian border, the government in Yaounde said in a statement on Sunday.

After fierce fighting when the national defense forces have successfully repelled the attackers, a Cameroonian soldier was injured, while more than ten terrorists were killed before beating a retreat the statement added.

An important military arsenal belonging to the attackers was destroyed and abandoned weapons recovered by the Cameroonian army.

The Cameroonian government has reassured the population about its forces’ determination to ensure their safety and the territorial integrity of the country and appealed for vigilance.

Lately, the Cameroonian army has been winning decisive battles against Boko Haram militants who have been losing significant number of troops and material since a counter-offensive by government soldiers following the July 27, 2014 attack, where a dozen people were killed and at least fifteen people were abducted in Fotokol in the far north of the country.
