$9.3m arms scandal: NACOMYO slams FG’s silence on identity of Nigerians involved

Non-disclosure of the two Nige-rians involved in the $9.3 million ammunition purchase saga by the federal government could threaten the corporate existence of Nigeria, a Muslim youth group, National Council of Muslim Youth Organisations (NACOMYO) has said.
NACOMYO’s President Alhaji Kamal’ddin Akintunde in a statement yesterday, also said the failure of government to reveal the names of the two Nigerians smacks of hypocrisy and was capable of causing mistrust about its sincerity on the issue and its fight against insurgency.

“The recent events in the country, including revelations by the Australian negotiator, Dr. Stevens Davis, $9.3m money laundering for ammunition, and followed by the recent surrender of Boko Haram members is a justification of alleged involvement of certain highly-placed Nigerians and Government conspiracy,” Akintunde said.

He said the National Assembly members should wash their hands clean of attempt to sweep the $9.3m scandal under the carpet, urging them to be forthcoming and proactive with the probe.
He said though the botched deal has brought embarrassment to the country, NACOMYO sees it as a divine response to prayers by Nigerians to expose the perpetrators and those behind the various security challenges.
