Are You Leaving Money In Your Database?

By Claire Mitchell

As you know it’s much, much cheaper and easier to retain customers than get new ones. However it’s easy to get stuck in a rut and just keep selling the same things to the same customers, until they drop off the radar or decide to sample the competition. And who can blame them?!

When was the last time you looked at your database? I mean REALLY looked at it, cleansed it, worked out who is buying what and how often?

Here are some questions for you, and I want you to spend some time on these because they could save you lots of time, effort and money and bring in more sales at the same time.

How many of your existing customers are buying products or services from other suppliers that they could be buying from you?
What could you offer them that would help them to grow, increase sales, save money, meet legislation?

If you don’t know, then ask them. It might not throw anything up BUT IT MIGHT! If you take an interest and ask questions you could uncover gems that could have a positive impact on your own business.

And if they can’t or don’t need to buy any more then can you ask them for a testimonial? Write a case study about how you help their business? Can you ask them to refer you? Can they give you contacts from their network? Can they give you feedback on your products or services? Can they offer suggestions as to how you might improve your offering? Have you ever asked them?
